Giacomo Zanus is an Italian musician coming from the province of Treviso, active in the realm of
improvised and experimental music, both on solo guitar and in different ensembles.
In 2019 he gives rise to KORA, a project born with the necessity to merge composition with (free) improvisation by working with different structures and languages. The result is a honest and uncompromised approach to music itself without any kind of limits and pre established boundaries.
Zanus puts together some of the most original artists of the North-East active in the field of
experimental jazz music writing a song cycle for guitar, piano and prepared piano, doublebass and drums. The sound spectrum alternates acoustic and electronic elements which represent the common thread of the musical dialogue, capable to take you through contemporary classical music, modern jazz, avant-garde and folk.
Dreamy “cinematographic” melodies, songs, chamber compositions and sacred music sketches alternate with sudden and radical improvisations, combining melody with abstraction, “rational” instinct with unpredictable.
KORA sets no limits between melodies and noises, it has no boundaries between acoustics and
electronics, musical research and tradition.
The first album of the ensemble will be released in 2021.
