The Ophir trio was born in 2013 from the meeting of the three musicians during a musical improvisation workshops organized by Daniele Goldoni at Ca' Foscari University in Venice.
Ophir is a legendary land mentioned in the Old Testament, a region particularly rich in gold, silver, metals and animals to bring as gifts to King Solomon. The three musicians link this ancient Eldorado to their idea of improvisation, in which the audience is a crazy Solomon to whom they deliver an unpredictable cornucopia of sounds. Their original compositions are a mixture of free jazz, post rock and noise, in which precise and cynical phrases blend with uncontrolled and overwhelming cries.
The debut album was released in May 2017. Ophir has performed in prestigious festivals such as Sile Jazz 2017, Roccella Jazz 2017, Novara Jazz 2018 and Sibiu Jazz Festival 2019. They are currently working on the new album.
